Helix, 2017, 10’ x 10’ x 9’ high. Installation at Glenwood Gallery, Glenwood Landing, NY. Salvaged tree branches, twine, cord and digital prints of forest details. Helix makes a statement about the natural world, commenting on our fragile relationship with nature, and on journeying within, experiencing and confronting wilderness. Its spiral shape allows people to walk inside the structure to its center, viewing the many images of intimate forest phenomena. The images are arranged on the structure in a helix pattern, making reference to the DNA molecule.
