Work 8
Double Nickel, 2016

Digitally woven cotton, polyester, thread
24 x 12 x 14 inches

Process: I blended a few techniques together - the stuffing of shapes, with the symmetry of earlier compositions and the folding of the earlier masks. I created a flat symmetrical shape with various looping shapes and stuffed it then tangled it in symmetrically - sewing it in place to create an unexpected 3 being.

Concept: This is part of a series I called Unseen, which I imagined were creatures from an unknown world.  I created several of these ‘sculpture-beings’ and installed them as a collective. They placed the viewer in the role of anthropologist, dialoguing and interacting with beings that are mysterious and inviting.
