D’Andra L. Barksdale

Since June 10th, 2021, my family and I have been living in an unbearable nightmare. My younger brother Jeffery J. Barksdale passed away in an accident at the age of 17. I have chosen to honor his life by creating a series of sculptures and quilts to express his life story and his importance. I am using symbols that I have created which are inspired by Ghanaian Adinkra symbols to show Jeffery's personality as clear as I can.
